Global Youth Work
We create opportunities for young people in the UK to become active citizens and bring about positive change globally
For five years, Y Care International has given young people from across the UK the chance to volunteer on International Citizen Service (ICS). This was a unique chance for young people to make a difference in some of the world’s poorest communities.
Together with young volunteers from the local community, our UK volunteers worked on development projects that improve the lives of vulnerable young people. The contributions of the volunteers feed into a real, sustainable and long-term impact for these communities.
Once back in the UK, the volunteers complete a project in their home community to raise awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) and inspire a new generation to help join our fight for a just world.
In doing ICS the volunteers have joined a global youth movement that, like Y Care International, believes young people have the power to make changes in their local communities that go towards tackling big global challenges.
Y Care International isn’t currently taking applications for ICS volunteering opportunities. Visit the ICS website for more details about how you can volunteer yourself.
This project is funded by the Department for International Development
ICS is funded by the Department for International Development (DFID) and is an investment in young people by the UK government. ICS is led by VSO in partnership with respected development organisations that work to agreed quality principles and standards. Y Care International is one of the agencies delivering ICS overseas.
