Y Care International moves to Whitechapel

Y Care International has moved from Farringdon to Whitechapel! As a step change takes place within the organisation with new CEO Leigh Daynes at the helm, Y Care International has now changed geographically too. We have set up base in The Davenant Centre alongside YMCA George Williams College which will offer a strong connection to our YCMA heritage.

The building itself has a history that links to Y Care International’s values. Built in 1660, The Davenant Centre was constructed in remembrance of Reverend Ralph Davenant, Rector of Whitechapel, and his community work. He left a legacy to educate children in the Whitechapel area. And so, evidence of the building’s history runs throughout, including a Victorian-style classroom.

Leigh Daynes, CEO says “Our move to co-locate with the YMCA’s national training college in Whitechapel makes a London-based premises more affordable and is an exciting step forward in our journey to enable many more young women and men to transform their lives.  We’re also looking forward to deepening connections in the local community and in particular with neighbouring faith-based organisations.
