Tim and Robbie hit the road for Tools for Recovery tour

Liberia YMCA will be touring YMCAs across the UK to mark the launch of Y Care International’s Tools for Recovery campaign to help rebuild lives devastated by Ebola.

During the `Tools for Recovery’ campaign, every donation will be doubled by the UK government as part of the UK Aid Match scheme.

Tim Kamaboakai from Liberia YMCA will be joined by Y Care International’s Global Youth Work coordinator, Robbie Cheyne for a jam packed roadshow tour that will take them to North Staffs YMCA,YMCA Wirral, White Rose YMCA, YMCA Scotland, YMCA Ireland, Swansea YMCA, Bridgwater YMCA and Fairthorne YMCA.

Kicking off the tour at North Staffordshire YMCA tonight, the roadshow will bring together staff, young people and members of the community to hear real life accounts of the outbreak and learn how they can raise awareness and vital funds for young people overseas.

“The Ebola outbreak affected the entire country in every sphere. I am looking forward, very much, to visiting YMCAs in the UK and introduce the Liberia YMCA to them and present the great work we are doing to impact lives and communities.” Tim Kamaboakai, Liberia YMCA.

The aftermath of Ebola has been catastrophic, killing over 11,000 in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea and further devastating the lives of slum communities already crippled by poverty.

Y Care International’s three-month campaign is seeking to increase investment in sustainable solutions to the long-term effects of Ebola and other crises. This vital support will help vulnerable young people in Liberia and other poorer countries make a living and secure household incomes, revive businesses and restart the local economy, and increase jobs and access to vital services. You can donate to the appeal here or by texting YGIV30 with your amount to 70070.
