Cyclone Idai made landfall on Thursday 14 March and has been described as potentially the worst ever disaster to strike the southern hemisphere by the UN. It has caused devastation in Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Malawi, killing hundreds and affecting millions.

15,000 people are still in need of rescue. 400,000 have lost their homes. Road and bridges have been swept away in the floods, with areas still completely cut off and more heavy rain forecast. These people need your support now, to help provide for their immediate needs, including food, water and shelter.

In Zimbabwe’s Chimanimani district, the World Food Programme is estimating that over 200,000 people will need urgent food aid for the next three months.

Y Care International is coordinating efforts with our partners the Africa Alliance of YMCAs and Zimbabwe YMCA on the ground to ensure that we can respond in the most effective way possible. But we need your help to do this.
