We want ICS to be open to as many young people as possible: so you don’t need cash to take part.
We will provide you with everything you need: flights, visas, travel and medical insurance, all necessary medication and vaccines, food and accommodation, and full support throughout the whole programme.
ICS is funded by the Department for International Development and is an investment in young people by the UK government. To supplement this funding, all volunteers are asked to fundraise a minimum of £800 to take part in ICS, but you don’t have to start any fundraising until you know you are definitely going.
You will be given a fundraising target after you have submitted your application. You will be supported by one of our expert Fundraising Officers who will give you advice on how to reach your fundraising target.
Why do I have to fundraise?
It’s the start of your journey as an ICS volunteer, and shows your commitment to the opportunity we’re giving you. You must make every effort to reach your target.
The money you fundraise is not a contribution towards the cost of your placement. Instead, it means we can give more young people an opportunity to volunteer with ICS.
We also know from experience that by fundraising for your placement you will gain a better understanding of what you are going to do overseas and why you are going to do it.
