Global affairs will top the agenda at the Y Care International’s annual conference, to be held in Leicestershire this week.
Dozens of YMCAs from all over the UK and Ireland will come together at the ‘Y Goes Global’ conference from 10-12 December at Launde Abbey in Leicestershire.
The conference is aimed at YMCAs in the UK and Ireland which want to get a better understanding of international issues and how they impact on young people. It will also help YMCAs get involved and make international partnerships with YMCAs in other parts of the world.
Guest international speakers include Duncan Chowdhury, the National General Secretary of Bangladesh YMCA, who will be presenting a workshop on savings and small loans and how they have impacted on the livelihoods of the poorest groups of rural and urban people in Bangladesh.
Hernan Medrano from Cochabamba YMCA in Bolivia will also be speaking about the youth empowerment project he co-ordinates.
