Raising awareness of HIV/AIDS
We support YMCAs in four Indian cities to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS.
India – the world's largest democracy – has made significant strides forward in recent years, but still experiences huge social, economic and environmental problems.

The current economic boom is causing the gap between rich and poor to grow wider, with 300 million of the population of 1.1 billion living on less than $1 a day.
The YMCA has been present in India since 1854, and there are now 550 local YMCA associations in the country. Y Care International has been working in India since 1984, and through the National Council of YMCAs of India, we work in partnership with 14 local YMCAs, focusing on projects that support education, vocational training and HIV and AIDS awareness. This includes long-term development work in areas that were affected by the Tsunami.
