[Y Care International] Terry Waite with students of IT Technology Information at East Jerusalem YMCA vocational training centre

Terry Waite reports from the Occupied Palestinian Territories

Y Care International’s founder is in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT) visiting young people whose lives have been affected by the continuing conflict

Terry Waite is in the OPT as Y Care International’s founder and President to see first-hand the programmes and campaigns that Y Care International supports. His visit coincides with the release of Gilad Shalit, an Israeli soldier, after five years being held hostage in exchange for the release of over 1,000 Palestinian prisoners. Terry has been visiting the YMCA’s vocational training centre in Jericho and says: ‘I want to see some of these youngsters go into business on their own’.

Terry Waite meets young people from disadvantaged backgrounds at “one of the star projects of Y Care International”, recognising that if you provide skills training and employment opportunities for young people you give them hope for the future, and they are less vulnerable to being exploited by others. Listen to Terry Waite on Audioboo and read about the project.
