Pakistan Flood Appeal
5 August 2010
Y Care International are working closely with our partners in Pakistan to get emergency supplies and support to vulnerable people affected by the recent devastating floods in Pakistan.
The worst floods on record have brought destruction to communities across five provinces of the country.
Reports from our partners in Pakistan say much of Pakistan's western province of Balochistan - mountainous, poor and the least populated of the country's provinces - is largely falling under the relief radar as government departments, media and aid agencies focus on northern areas of the country.
Pakistan’s weather service forecasts widespread rain in the next four days which will put more lives at risk.
ACT Alliance
Funds from the appeal are also going to our partner, the ACT Alliance. Working through partners on the ground, ACT have distributed 500 food and shelter kits and 750 more kits are being dispatched. However, the need is much higher.
They are also providing emergency health care through a mobile health unit in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and two further mobile health units are planned. Plastic sheeting shelter and other relief are also to be distributed.
