This year we are celebrating our 25th anniversary. This edition of Insight includes features on how Y Care was established in 1984 and covers the enormous achievements which have been made over the years. 

Josephine is from Casamance in Senegal, which has experienced 27 years of conflict. She is one of our Peace and Health Ambassadors and is teaching people in her community about malaria.

In this edition, you will read about our work in Senegal, which is helping whole communities to overcome the scars of conflict. You will read about our Peace and Health Ambassadors; children and young people who are active in their communities, giving out vital health information, such as how to prevent malaria and other diseases.

We also bring you the story of Matthew, a former child soldier in Liberia, who is helping others to overcome the trauma of war as a broadcaster on a YMCA radio station. Matthew has been using his experiences to reach out to other young people forced to fight as children, motivating them to turn in their weapons and take part in productive activities such as skills training. With the help of our supporters, we are continuing to give young people in Liberia and neighbouring Sierra Leone the chance to build a stable and secure future, and to play a vital part in rebuilding their communities.
