Glasgow Conference
19 October 2009
Every year, members of Y Care International's Youth Workers Network come together for an annual conference. In the past we’ve held the conference in Cardiff, Manchester and Birmingham so this year we were pleased to take the conference to Scotland!
On 15 - 16 October, the fourth consecutive conference took place in Glasgow, bringing together over 70 youth workers from YMCAs around the UK and Ireland. We were also delighted to welcome three delegates from Sweden and Norway.
The conference included a host of activities, including workshops and presentations, designed to give youth workers ideas, inspiration and practical skills to carry out global youth work projects in their YMCAs.
During the conference, delegates were given updates on Y Care International's work and shared some of the exciting projects they've been carrying out in their YMCAs. They also took part in game shows and a debate on Fair Trade. And there was plenty of time for people to network and share ideas on new global youth work projects.
Some comments included:
"I found this conference to be quite refreshing in respect of seeing new faces, the format was good and the workshops were really interesting."
"It's been really informative. I really enjoyed the seminars and getting to know Y Care International and global youth work."
"This was the first conference I've been to. I enjoyed the way everything was presented through game shows and talk shows."
