Youth Justice in Action Solidarity Days

2 September 2008

Y Care International's Youth Justice in Action campaign is hosting six solidarity days over the coming months.

These days will bring young people together from six countries to mark a day in solidarity with each other.

The first solidarity day is on Friday 12th September 2008 and will focus on Honduras.

In Honduras young people will be marching in the capital, Tegucigalpa, to protest against the murders and violence inflicted on young people in the country. In other campaign countries, young people will get together in solidarity to learn about the issues that affect their peers in Honduras.

They will take action by writing, painting and drawing their messages on action cards that call on the UN to make youth justice a reality for young people everywhere.

A resource which highlights youth justice issues in Honduras has been produced. The resource includes an activity to carry out with young people to help them learn about the issues.

The resource shows that the problems faced by young people in Honduras are the same problems faced by young people in other countries and that these are global issues, as well as local and national ones. The resource is available at: youthjusticeinaction.org
