Emergency relief and rehabilitation

Y Care International undertakes relief, reconstruction and rehabilitation work in the event of human emergency and natural disaster.

The local knowledge of our YMCA partners means they are able to mobilise quickly and effectively to co-ordinate emergency responses when disasters strike.

As well as providing emergency supplies and reconstructing housing and schools, YMCAs can provide counselling for those suffering trauma, vocational training to rebuild livelihoods, and can help to re-establish community support networks.

Our partners are committed to long-term rehabilitation and development years after other agencies might leave. Because of this, our emergency and relief work often develops into long-term development programmes.

Through our partnership with ACT International, we are also able to respond to emergencies in areas where there is no YMCA operating.
