Africa food crisis, 2002

26 July 2002

In July 2002, close to 13 million people faced starvation across much of southern Africa.

Y Care International launched an emergency appeal in response to the food crisis which had been brought about by the combined effects of political turmoil, civil war and unrest, the devastating effects of HIV/AIDS, and heavy rains, which came too soon and were followed by drought.

Y Care International worked through ACT International, to provide immediate food assistance and relief to those in most need.
