Y Care International, the international relief and development agency of the YMCA in the UK and Ireland, has appointed David White as its new Chair of the Board of Trustees.
He replaces David Bedford who, along with Terry Waite CBE, co-founded Y Care International 21 years ago. David Bedford took up the position of Chair of YMCA England’s Board of Trustees in May.
David White, whose background lies in commercial marketing, has enjoyed a varied career in the voluntary sector for the past 17 years. He has previously led the development agency Harvest Help, which works with rural communities in Africa, and was Chief Executive of the Prince of Wales Hospice in Pontefract. David is currently Executive Director of Interhealth, a medical charity providing specialist health services for the development NGO sector.
David’s appointment comes as Y Care International enters a new stage in its development: it has recently become a fully independent charity. Until April it was a subsidiary charity of YMCA England.
Y Care International’s new status as the international development agency of the YMCA movement in the UK and Ireland strengthens the charity’s links with the movement.
